Electrolux dryer moisture sensor service
Automatic cycles that stop too early, run too long, or will not stop at all, while timed cycles work perfectly. That combination is the moisture sensor, and this maker publishes it as E 4 with unusually generous wording: the dryer keeps working, and what you lose is the automatic programs. The sensor is a pair of metal strips inside the drum opening reading the resistance across damp fabric, and the commonest reason they stop reading is a film of fabric softener rather than a failed part.

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

01
Clean the strips inside the drum opening
A little rubbing alcohol on the two metal bars. This is the whole repair often enough to try before booking anybody.
-
02
Run an automatic cycle and see whether it stops on its own
That test tells you whether the cleaning worked better than any measurement will.
-
03
Test the sensor and its harness if it stands
Say on the phone that timed cycles still work — it narrows the part before we arrive.

Eleven dryers · gas and electric Electrolux dryer repair in Miami
Eleven dryers — the largest single family in this maker's whole US line, bigger than every refrigerator, range and dishwasher it sells put together. Electric and gas at each of the 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 Series, all at 8.0 cubic feet, plus a 24-inch compact at 4.0. Four more machines are laundry towers, where the washer and dryer are one unit. This badge also publishes a dryer error code guide, which its mass-market sister does not publish at all — seven rows, and three of them send you back to the installer rather than to a repair company.
- Eleven dryers plus four towers — the deepest family in the line
- A published seven-row code guide, which the sister badge does not have
- EF1 is airflow, and in a condominium that is the vent run rather than the machine

About Electrolux dryer moisture sensor service
Two metal strips, and a film beats them
The automatic cycles do not measure time or temperature — they measure conductivity across damp fabric, using two metal bars inside the drum opening. Anything that insulates those bars makes the machine believe the load is drier than it is, and fabric softener and dryer sheets do exactly that. It is a maintenance item that reads as an electronic failure, and this maker's own note on the code says plainly that the machine keeps working in the meantime.

Questions about Electrolux dryer moisture sensor service
Which cycles are affected?
Only the automatic ones. If timed cycles still dry correctly, that is a useful thing to tell us because it narrows the part before anybody arrives.
Do I have to stop using dryer sheets?
No, but they will bring it back. Wiping the strips with a little rubbing alcohol every few months is the easier trade.
