# Electrolux washer cycle never ends

### What to do in the next ten minutes

Check the bottle says HE or high-efficiency. Halve what you are pouring — the line inside the cap was drawn for a far thirstier machine. Let the extra rinses finish rather than canceling them, and run one empty quick wash afterwards to clear what is left in the drum.

### Why it starts the week somebody switches brands

The drum still holds residue from the previous product, so the first several loads with a new detergent are foaming on the sum of both. That is why this symptom so often begins immediately after a change and then settles — or does not, if the new product is not HE. Running one empty hot cycle between products removes the variable entirely, and almost nobody does it.

The detergent is not high-efficiency

It cannot work in a drum that uses this little water, at any dose.

The dose is too high

The molded line in the cap is not a measurement for this machine, and most people follow it.

Residue from a previous product

The drum and the sump hold it, so the right detergent at the right dose still oversuds for several washes after a change.

Read the bottle

HE or high-efficiency, printed on the front. Non-HE is not a dosing problem, it is the wrong product.

Halve the dose for a fortnight

If the problem goes, that was it.

Run an empty quick wash

The maker's own instruction, and it clears what is already there.

It keeps rinsing, five minutes at a time

What it usually means

SU dS, and the machine is doing exactly the right thing

A non-HE detergent cannot work in this machine at any dose

Most households use roughly twice what these drums need

### Can I cancel the extra rinses?

You can, and the foam then stays in the drum for the next load. Letting them finish is five minutes now against the same problem tomorrow.

### I have always used this detergent.

Then look at the dose and at whether the water has changed — a building that switched supply or a new softener will change how much foam the same dose makes.
