# Electrolux induction zone shuts off

### What to do in the next ten minutes

Open the drawer or cupboard under the cooktop and take everything out of the top of it. Try the same pan on a different zone, and a different pan on the same zone. Listen for the cooling fan running after the unit switches off.

### Induction is not a glass cooktop with a different name

Almost everything written about a ‘glass cooktop’ describes radiant elements under ceramic, and this maker does not build one. Induction puts a coil under the glass and heats the pan directly, which means power electronics, cooling fans and air paths that a radiant top simply does not have. It fails thermally and it fails by zone. A packed drawer under the unit is a real cause of shutdowns and it appears in no general troubleshooting list anywhere.

The cooling path is blocked

Induction electronics sit under the glass and are cooled by a fan that needs somewhere to draw from and somewhere to push to.

The pan is not coupling

A base that has warped touches the glass in a ring rather than flat, and the zone cycles trying to find it.

A power stage or its sensor has failed

Where one zone is consistently affected and the rest are perfect, and the pan is ruled out.

Empty the drawer underneath

Free, and it is the answer more often than anything else on this page.

Swap the pan between zones

Two tests and it separates the cookware from the appliance.

Listen for the fan

A fan that is not running after the unit gets hot is itself the problem.

It heats for a moment and then stops

What it usually means

No radiant cooktop exists on this badge — this is induction

A drawer packed against the underside is a genuine cause of shutdowns

One dead zone means one power stage, not the whole board

### It buzzes when it is on.

Normal, and it is the cookware rather than the appliance. A multi-ply base at high power resonates — the same pan on a lower setting is usually quiet.

### The fan runs long after I finish cooking.

Also normal. It is cooling the electronics under the glass, and on these units it can run for several minutes after everything is switched off.
