# Electrolux wine cooler shelving service

### The shelving is why the cabinet was chosen

Wide walnut slats that take bottles of different diameters without stacking are not a detail — they are the reason somebody paid the difference over a cheaper cabinet. They are also a serviceable part rather than a fixed fitting, which surprises people. A runner pulled out of true by years of heavy bottles loaded at the front can be squared, and a split slat can be replaced on its own without touching the shelf around it.

What this involves

Walnut-slat shelving is a serviceable part, not a fixed fitting

Binding is normally the runner rather than the shelf

Worth adding to another visit rather than calling out separately

Check the runner rather than the shelf

A shelf that binds in one position and not another is a runner out of square, and squaring it is usually free.

Look at how the cabinet is loaded

Heavy bottles pushed to the front of every shelf will pull runners out of true over years. It is worth saying, because it is preventable.

Replace split slats rather than whole shelves

The slats are individual and available. Replacing a shelf for one split slat is the expensive way to do this.

### Is this worth a call-out on its own?

Usually not, and we will say so. Add it to another visit and it is generally done in the same appointment at very little extra.

### Several shelves bind, not just one.

That is normal after years of front-loading and it is best done together. Doing one runner and leaving three is a visit spent for a quarter of the benefit.
