# Electrolux self-clean and door lock repair

### The latch's whole working life is one cycle

It sits idle for years and then, once, is asked to drive a bolt across under heat, hold it for hours at temperatures nothing else in the kitchen sees, and withdraw it. Every weakness in the motor, the cam and the two confirming switches is exposed in that single operation, which is why nearly every F90-to-F94 call arrives the morning after a self-clean. It is also why some technicians quietly advise against self-cleaning an older oven at all.

F90 to F94 are five numbers for one latch mechanism

They nearly all appear the day after a self-clean cycle

Levering the door turns one part into a door, a hinge and a liner

Press UNLOCK and follow the on-screen prompt

These ovens give you a code to type back, which is the maker's own way out and it is not obvious unless you know.

Wait until the cavity is fully cold

The latch will not release while the oven considers itself hot, and that is correct.

Then thirty seconds at the breaker

The maker states plainly that this clears most false codes in the family. If it comes back, the latch motor or its switch is the repair.

### Can I not just force the door?

Please do not. The latch is a small motor and a cam, and the door, the hinges and the inner liner are all in the load path. Forcing it turns one part into three.

### The oven is still warm.

Then the latch is doing what it should. It will not release while the cavity considers itself hot, and on a well-insulated oven that is hours rather than minutes.
