# Electrolux refrigerator leak repair

### In a fitted kitchen the water finds the joinery first

That is why a slow leak here costs more than a fast one on tile. The cabinet sits in a run on a floor laid around it, and a weep of a few drops a day goes into the substrate for months before there is anything to see. By the time a mark appears on the floor there is usually a repair to the kitchen as well as to the appliance — which is why we treat water reported behind a built-in cabinet as urgent and a puddle under the crisper drawers as routine.

What this involves

Three ordinary sources, and they are distinguishable before anybody arrives

In a fitted kitchen the water finds the cabinetry before it finds the floor

A slow leak in joinery is more expensive than a fast leak on tile

Find where the water is, not just that there is water

Under the crisper drawers is the defrost drain. Behind or beneath the cabinet is the supply line. Down the front of the door is condensation.

Clear the drain properly rather than flushing it

A drain that is cleared with warm water refreezes in weeks. Clearing the blockage at the bottom of the tube is what makes the repair last.

Check the line and its connections under pressure

A compression fitting that weeps under pressure is dry when you look at it. This is where most "it only leaks sometimes" calls end up.

Dry what is behind the cabinet before closing up

In this climate anything left damp behind joinery is a second problem arriving later.

### Where is it most likely coming from?

Under the drawers is the defrost drain. Behind or beneath the cabinet is the supply line. Down the front of a door is condensation from a seal. Where you see it narrows this to one of three before we arrive.

### Should I turn the water off?

If the water is at the back of the cabinet, yes — close the supply valve and call us. If it is under the drawers, it is meltwater and there is nothing to shut off.
