# Electrolux rangetop service

### A rangetop is not a cooktop

One of this maker's five cooking surfaces is a 36-inch gas rangetop, and it is a different appliance: deeper, with a raised back panel and its own controls, sitting in a counter run with the oven built in somewhere else. Its parts are its own and the access is its own. When somebody books a cooktop repair and we find a rangetop the visit usually has to repeat with the right parts, which is why we ask when the appointment is made and why this page exists to be findable.

What this involves

A rangetop is a different appliance from a cooktop, with its own parts

36 inches, raised back panel, its own controls, deeper than a drop-in

Telling us which you have avoids a repeated visit

Confirm from the model plate, not the description

The two are easy to confuse from a photograph and impossible to confuse from a model number.

Plan the access around the counter run

A rangetop sits in a cut-out with a surround, and getting it up is different work from lifting a drop-in cooktop out.

Service the burners as a set

Six burners that have had the same life will need the same attention, and doing one is a visit spent for a sixth of the benefit.

### How do I tell which I have?

The rangetop has a raised panel at the back carrying the controls and it is deeper than a drop-in unit. The model number settles it in a second — a photograph of the plate is enough.

### Should all six burners be done together?

Usually, yes. Six burners of the same age want the same attention, and doing one is a visit spent for a sixth of the benefit.
