# Electrolux oven door and hinge repair

### Uneven browning is usually the door

People reach for the element, and the element is frequently fine. A door that no longer seals lets the cavity lose heat unevenly, and what that shows up as is one side of a tray browning before the other — long before anybody thinks about a gasket. On a 30-inch double oven the hinges carry real weight and they are replaced in pairs, because one new hinge against one that has done ten years puts the whole door out of true.

What this involves

Uneven browning is a door problem more often than an element problem

Hinges are replaced in pairs, always

Misting between the glass panels is a seal, and it is serviceable

Check the door seal all the way round

The braided gasket is a wear part with a service life, and a gap at one corner is enough to explain uneven cooking.

Test the hinges by lifting the door at the handle

Play at the top means the hinge, not the latch.

Separate misting from a broken seal

Condensation between panels means the door seal has let moisture in. It is fixable and it is not a reason to replace the oven.

### The glass has misted between the panels.

The door seal has let moisture in. It is fixable, it is a door repair rather than an oven repair, and it is not a reason to replace the appliance.

### Does the oven have to come out?

For most door and hinge work, only far enough to open it fully. On a wall oven scribed into a tall cabinet that is still a two-person job, and we allow for it.
