# Electrolux dishwasher wash performance

### SmartBoost fails without telling anybody

It premixes detergent with water before the first spray, and it is what allows the short programs to work at all. There is no error code for it and no warning. When it stops, the machine still runs, still sounds correct, and cleans noticeably worse on exactly the cycles most households use daily. People change detergent, then change brand, then call somebody — usually months later. If a long cycle cleans and a quick one does not, that is the diagnosis.

What this involves

SmartBoost failing shows up as poor short cycles, not as an error

Spray arms, filter, inlet temperature and hard-water scale

Most of this is serviceable rather than a part

Check the arms turn freely and their holes are clear

A tall item in the lower rack stopping the upper arm is the single most common cause of "it stopped cleaning", and it costs nothing.

Measure the water temperature at the sink

These machines heat, but they start from what arrives. A long cold run means a long Hd delay and a cooler wash than the cycle intended.

Descale, and say so honestly

South Florida water leaves scale on the heater and the arms. Descaling is maintenance rather than repair, and we will tell you when that is all it needed.

### Should I pre-rinse everything?

No. These machines are designed around soil being present and their sensors use it. Scrape rather than rinse, and clean the filter instead.

### Would a different detergent help?

If you are using pods on a short cycle, possibly — they need time and temperature to dissolve. If a long cycle cleans and a short one does not, the detergent is not the variable.
