# Electrolux appliance maintenance

### A specified kitchen ages as one kitchen

Where the appliances went in together they share an age, a room, a water supply and an air path, and they tend to need attention at the same time. That is the argument for doing them in one visit rather than three: the travel is paid once and the checks overlap. What we are looking for is accumulation rather than failure — a condenser route that has silted up behind a trim kit, a dryer duct that has been narrowing for four years, the fold in a washer gasket that never dries out in this humidity.

What this involves

Coils, ducts, sumps and seals — the parts that fail from accumulation

Worth doing as a suite when the kitchen was specified as one

Finds the failure that was three months away, which is the actual value

Condensers and air paths first

A column in a trim kit breathes through a defined route, and in coastal air that route silts up. Cleaning it is the single highest-value thing anybody does to refrigeration here.

The dryer duct, end to end

The run itself, not the lint screen. Everything else here is about efficiency; this one is about safety, and in a condominium it is the stretch no resident can ever inspect.

Seals, sumps and filters

The washer gasket fold, the dishwasher filter and glass trap, the refrigerator door seals. Ten minutes each and they account for a large share of the calls we would otherwise take.

Write down what was found and what was left

You get the list, including the things we did not do and why. A maintenance visit that reports nothing is a maintenance visit nobody can act on.

### How often is worth doing?

Once a year for the air paths and the seals, and the dryer run every couple of years in a building. More often if the kitchen is near the water or the household is large.

### Will you find things I then have to pay to fix?

Sometimes, and anything found becomes a quote you agree to rather than a line added to the bill. Finding the failure that was three months away is the actual value of the visit.
