# Electrolux washers

### Front load only, and what follows from it

Because this make builds no top loader, everything on this site about washers is written for a front-load machine: the door seal, the door lock that has to engage before a cycle will run, the pump filter behind the bottom panel, the sensitivity to detergent dose. None of that applies to a top loader, and a good deal of general washer advice online is written for one.

### The installation codes, and why we name them

Three of the maker’s eight washer codes — a long fill, a slow pump out, and a reversed-hose detection — are published with a note sending the owner back to whoever installed the machine. That is unusual and it is honest. If your washer was fitted or moved in the last month and it is showing one of those, the fix is very likely free and it is not ours to charge for. We will say so on the phone.

The installation codes, and why we name them

Three of the maker’s eight washer codes — a long fill, a slow pump out, and a reversed-hose detection — are published with a note sending the owner back to whoever installed the machine. That is unusual and it is honest. If your washer was fitted or moved in the last month and it is showing one of those, the fix is very likely free and it is not ours to charge for. ### It will not fill, or it fills very slowly, and shows E11.

The maker's own first answer is not a part: the hot and cold supplies are crossed. A washer fed cold through the hot valve still fills, just too slowly for the timer. Worth knowing too that E11 locks the machine for up to six minutes and unplugging restarts that clock — which is why people spend an afternoon on a machine that was going to release itself.

### The cycle never ends and it keeps rinsing.

Oversudsing, and the machine is handling it correctly by rinsing again — about five minutes each time. A front loader uses a fraction of the water a top loader does, so an ordinary dose of a non-HE detergent foams every single time. It is the most common washer call we take that is not a repair at all.

### There is a smell from the drum or the seal.

Front loaders seal tight, which is what lets them use so little water and also what traps it. The gasket has a fold at the bottom that holds water and lint, and in this climate it never dries on its own. Wiping that fold and leaving the door ajar between washes solves most of it; when it does not, the sump or the drain hose is holding residue.

### Is the 24-inch compact a different machine?

Mechanically it is its own design, not a shrunk version of the full-size, and parts are not interchangeable. It matters when you call: a 2.4 cubic foot compact in a condominium closet and a 4.5 cubic foot 700 Series in a laundry room share a badge and very little else.
