# Electrolux microwaves

### Why this site has a microwave page and its sister does not

The owner’s matrix grants this site the type and does not grant it to the mass-market badge in the same group. That is the sheet’s decision, not ours, and it happens to match the catalog: what this make sells is three built-in and over-the-range units, which is exactly the kind of microwave worth calling a repair company about.

### The one appliance we ask you not to open

Almost every other page on this site has steps you can try first. This one does not. The high-voltage capacitor in a microwave holds a charge that can kill after the unit has been unplugged for a long time, and there is no consumer-level check worth that risk. Filters, the damper and the door alignment are the outside of the appliance and fine to look at. Everything behind the inner panel is ours.

Microwave repair

Three microwaves — two built-in and one over-the-range convection

No countertop model is built on this badge

A built-in is fitted to an opening, which changes the repair-or-replace answer

Why this site has a microwave page and its sister does not

The owner’s matrix grants this site the type and does not grant it to the mass-market badge in the same group. That is the sheet’s decision, not ours, and it happens to match the catalog: what this make sells is three built-in and over-the-range units, which is exactly the kind of microwave worth calling a repair company about.

The one appliance we ask you not to open

Almost every other page on this site has steps you can try first. This one does not. The high-voltage capacitor in a microwave holds a charge that can kill after the unit has been unplugged for a long time, and there is no consumer-level check worth that risk. Filters, the damper and the door alignment are the outside of the appliance and fine to look at. Everything behind the inner panel is ours.

### The turntable turns and the light comes on but nothing gets hot.

Classic, and it means the low-voltage side is alive and the high-voltage side is not. On these units that is the magnetron, the high-voltage diode, the capacitor or the door interlocks. It is not a do-it-yourself repair under any circumstances: the capacitor holds a lethal charge after the unit is unplugged. This is one of the few appliances we ask people not to open at all.

### Is a built-in microwave worth repairing?

Far more often than a countertop one, and the arithmetic is the reason. A countertop unit is replaced for less than a service call. A built-in has to match an existing opening and a trim kit, and the current line has exactly three models — so "just replace it" can mean re-cutting cabinetry. We price the repair against that honestly.

### The over-the-range unit does not vent properly.

That unit is doing two jobs — cooking and ventilation — and the second one is the one that gets ignored. Grease filters that have not been washed, a damper that has stuck closed, or a unit set to recirculate when it is actually ducted. All three are checkable in minutes and none of them is a magnetron.

### The door catches, or no longer closes square.

This one should not be put off. The door carries the interlocks that let the unit run at all, and a door that is out of square will eventually stop it working — or, worse, work while not sealing as designed. On a drop-down door the hinges take the whole weight every time it opens.
